Single crystal elastic constants of additively manufactured components determined by resonant ultrasound spectroscopy

Bayesian inference with Sequential Monte Carlo was used to determine the single crystal elastic constants of additively manufactured (AM) cobalt‑nickel-based superalloy specimens from only resonant frequencies and texture data. This novel framework enables quantification for AM polycrystalline using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy (RUS), avoiding expense bulk fabrication or synchrotron experiments. A parallelizable open-source Python package (SMCPy) perform specimens. The determined cobalt‑nickel-base were validated measurements on a specimen. EBSD data specimens, neutron by considering experimental uncertainty in both robustness this varied orientations relative build direction (BD) demonstrated printed at 0° 20° BD-inclinations. • Single are determinable RUS/ Textures aligned misaligned BD demonstrated. constant variability driven error input coefficients. Parallelized SMC 10× computation time reduction.
